The decision has widely been advised as a willful miscarriage of justice by the General Pervez Musharraf's Government. All opposition parties in Pakistan, encompassing Pakistan Peoples Party of the former major Minister Benazir Bhutto and six party-alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), considered the decision to be democratically motivated by the ruling junta with malicious intent, affirming him to be a political prisoner.[3] In imprisonment he furthermore composed two publications titled as "Haan, main Baaghi Hoon!" (Yes, I am a 'Rebel!') and "takhta daar ke saaye tale" (Under the Stage's shadow). His publication, "Yes, I am a 'Rebel'!", Hashmi apparently stated that he was imprisoned because he demanded a charge to be formed to enquire the Kargil issue, the restoration of democracy and opposed the Armys function in politics, and Pakistan's geostrategy principle in centered Asia and Europe
